2017 GMC Acadia near Montgomery
If you’re looking for an SUV that can fit the whole family, you won’t be disappointed with the all-new GMC Acadia. Fully redesigned for 2017, the new Acadia is more nimble than its predecessors yet still seats eight comfortably. It also, of course, comes with lots of the latest features that make driving it a pleasure. Here’s a look at just some of what the new GMC Acadias for sale around Montgomery have to offer.
A More Nimble Body
The redesigned 2017 GMC Acadia remains a true mid-sized SUV, but it’s smaller than previous renditions of the Acadia. Compared to the 2016 model, the 2017 model is 7.2 inches shorter lengthwise and 3.5 inches narrower.
While seemingly minor, these reductions in size have major benefits. The new GMC Acadia:
- is 700 pounds lighter (which helps improve fuel economy)
- is easier to drive through busy city streets
- will fit in slightly smaller parking spaces
Room for Seven (Or Large Items)
Despite its slightly smaller dimensions, the 2017 GMC Acadia still provides plenty of room for the family. It’s three rows of seats will accommodate up to seven people comfortably, and second-row bucket seats are available for families that don’t need quite that many seats.
When not ferrying the family around town, the second- and third-row seats fold flat to provide 79 cubic feet of cargo room. That’s enough room to accommodate large-screen televisions, lots of furniture and other oversized items. (With all three rows of seats up, the Acadia offers 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space.)
Engine Options for Different Performance
The 2017 GMC Acadia, like many SUVs, comes with a couple of engine options. The options aren’t like those found on most SUVs, though. Rather than offering two extremely powerful engines, the Acadias for sale around Montgomery can come with a respectably powerful V6 or a highly efficient four-cylinder.
The available 3.6-liter V6 provides all the power most drivers needs. Producing 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, it’s capable of towing up to 5,200 pounds when paired with the Trailering Package. That’s more than most towed boats, campers and utility trailers weigh.
The standard four-cylinder engine trades off power for fuel efficiency. Its 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque will still accelerate the SUV up a hill or past a slower car with ease. Meanwhile, the combined 23 miles per gallon -- with front- or all-wheel drive -- sets the Acadia apart when it comes to fuel efficiency. Few three-row SUVs can get up to 25 miles per gallon, and those that do manage it almost never are equipped with all-wheel drive.
Trims and Packages for Every Need
With three different versions of the Acadia, several trims and a number of packages available, there is an Acadia that meets every driver’s needs. For a fuel-efficient, three-row SUV that’s budget friendly, the 2017 Acadia SLE-1 has a starting MSRP below $30,000. For a fully loaded Acadia, go with the 2017 Acadia Denali that’s equipped with features like forward collision alert, a hands-free power liftgate, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and more. There are also many combinations in between these two options.
