Engine and Transmission

Buyers have the choice of three engines in the 2021 GMC Yukon. They can choose between a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter engine or a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter engine. They can also choose a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine. With these vehicles, you can switch between rear- and all-wheel drive by simply pushing a button on the dashboard.

All versions of the 2021 GMC Yukon have a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the first time, the 2021 models feature an independent rear suspension that gives this vehicle a smoother ride.

Interior Features

Buyers can choose between a vehicle seating seven or a vehicle seating eight people depending on if they want captain seats in the second row or a bench seat. A large IntelliLink interface is found in all 2021 GMC Yukons. The vehicle can be used as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Buyers have the option to upgrade the Bose audio system and choose to include a navigation system.

This vehicle has an incredible amount of cargo space. With all seats in place, there is 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats in all trim levels, except the Yukon Denali XL. That is enough space for six carry-on-size bags. The second-and-third-row seats fold flat so that you can haul even more. The longer wheelbase on the Yukon Denali XL increases the cargo space to 145 cubic feet.

Safety Features

Many included features make the 2021 Yukon a safe and fun vehicle to drive. All models come with heads-up surround vision. Automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and front and rear parking sensors come on all vehicles. Parents who may occasionally let their teen drivers use this vehicle will love the Teen Driver features that allow you to set the audio limit and the top speed.

Trim Levels

There are five trim levels available in the 2021 GMC Yukon. The base level is the SLE. This trim level features a 10.2-inch infotainment system.

The next step up is the SLT. It features heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a power liftgate, and additional safety features.

Be sure to consider stepping it up to the Denali. You are sure to love the wood-grain details in this option. If you will be pulling a trailer, consider the Denali because it has an integrated trailer-brake controller.

Another great option is the Yukon Denali XL. While all other options in this vehicle are 210 inches long, the XL increases that length to 225.2 inches. This allows you to have 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the third-row seats in place. It also increases the third-row legroom from 34.9 inches to 36.7 inches.
